Distributor Gear Problem
I used the dizzy from my 460 in my current 429 the electronic type. I had to pull it out tonight for another reason but the gear is worn very bad and chipped. This worked fine in the 460 with no wear. Is there a reason I cant use a 460 dizzy in a 429? Anyone with an answer or had this happen to them please let me know.

429 and 460 are same. Perhaps some trash got in between gears when you installed - or later during running. If you install distributor, you should be able to feel some gear backlash. If not try installing a thicker gasket (or doubling gasket) to pull gear up slightly from full mesh.
