Sticky shifter
I am normally on the Expedition site but I have a question that I did not see doing a search. My wifes 2003 Explorer EB 4.6 has a problem with the column mount gear shift. When trying to shift into park it wants to stop at reverse. Then if you pull it a little to the right it will then go into park. It seems like it might have somthing to do with the interlock. Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Mines an 02 and it does the same thing. You will find this is a common problem. I have made the decision to live with mine as it is. It is annoying, but you get used to it. From what I understand it gets no worse.

Just to let you know I believe I solved the problem. I took the shroud off around the steering column and used some spray white lithium grease where there is a ball that moves in a slot when you run thru the gears. This seems to have taken care of the problem, at least for now.
