map sensor question ??
I AM WORKING ON 87 f150 4.9L Injected---map code 22---how do I determine which map sensor is suppossed to be on the truck--FORD says there is 2 possibilities--and no way to tell the difference---Someone has recently changed it out with a no name cheap aftrmarket one---so no way to back check the number to the O/E part--is there a method to determine if I need the frequency varying type or the voltage varyong type--??? Ford says VIN no help on this old vehicle----surely someone has run into this before THANKS paul

Never heard of a Map sensor on a Ford of the output voltage type.
The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor operates as a piezoelectric (pressure-sensing) disc. However, rather than generating a voltage, its output is a frequency change.
