I got a gift Card for "Parts America" which I think is Kragen/Checker/Advanced Auto and who knows who else. Anyway, out here, it's Kragen.
On the Parts America Web-site, they list '49 F1 Front Wheel Cylinders (Raybestos WC9091 and WC9090) at $15.99 each. If you check your various Truck Catalogs they run $35 or so each......
When I went to the Kragen Store they were listed at $40 each. When I told him forget it, I'll order on-line, he told me if I bring in the on-line page, he'd honor it. I of course asked why he couldn't look it up at the store. No help.
Anyway, I brought the on-line page in. They honored it straight up with no drama at all. Props to them for that. No Props to them if you don't know better........
Scored fresh Cylinders at $35 that could have cost $80.......Thought this might be usefull to you'ze knuckleheads.
Get the Internet Price First before you go to the Retailer.....
Most of the time when I need parts I'll go to the various websites and look them up myself so that I can walk into the store with the part # in hand and can ask for it directly, thereby avoiding the idiotic questions from the moronic parts guy. From now on I will print out my search page with the pricing info and take that into the store with me. Thanks for the tip
When I waas going through the radiator process for my 49 I searched several online databases to determine waht I needed. I finally identified a make and model and looked up the part # online. Went to the local Checker store which told me they didn't stock it but they would be glad to order it in for me (no extra charge to me)
I save a lot of money by printing the e-net page and taking it with me. I buy most of my parts at Auto Zone, two blocks away. They know me pretty well. And I get a lot of good deals.
I learned this one when doing u-joints on an s10. pitted NAPA vs Oreilly vs Autozone. Two spiders and a busted harmonic slip yoke (my bad) saved $100.

I don't know where they are made. The reason I was passing the info along had to do with the way the store priced it, versus the company's Internet price.
The Brand is Raybestos which along with Bendix has always been a major supplier of Brake Parts.
