I own a 2008 Ford F-350, 6.4, dully, HD, Crew, long bed. Truck has 24,000 miles and I'm having major problems. 12-19-2007 radiator blew, Ford changed out, blower motor-speed control replaced, etc. 12-26-2007, picked up truck from dealer. 12-27-2007 started up truck blew white smoke for three miles on the way back to dealer. Also found the radiator resevoir was empty. I was advised today, 01-03-2007, they were going to start tearing down my truck on 01-07-2008. Any ideas on what is going on.
Well the blower motor speed control is just a fluke . But I have a feeling when the faulty radiator blew and it was replaced they did not put enough coolant back in. It might have blown a head gasket or craked a head. I would have to say its the dealers fault on this one.
Did you bring it back to the same dealer that you purchased it from? Did the service advisor put you in a free rental car? Did you have over 20k trouble free miles before these problems surfaced?
don't compalin on this site till you have 4000 posts or they will call you a troll
But I feel your pain! sorry. I have been threw alot with mine also
Tom im sorry man, i understand that you must be ill after putting so much into your new truck and getting a lemon. but for God sakes - Shut Up! If you dont wanna be considered a troll you should have approached this site in a different way. EX - instead of coming on here and posting about how fords are such a POS and how mad you are you should have asked for friendly advice, told the guys on here the situation (you did that) and they probably would have had alot of very helpful information for you. I just got done reading 3 posts where you complain that people will call you a troll if you complain about your 6.4 (being sarcastic). We get the point already - if you dont have anything constructive or positive to say, then just dont say it.
Troll, complaining, not sure where your going with this! I did ask if anyone had any ideas on what may be going wrong with my F-350. I'm 3000 miles from my dealer on an RV road trip West. Now thats a major problem and I did expect this truck to perform per its specs. Reading through the posts tells me this new 6.4 may have some serious issues. Just looking for advice or recommendations as asked in 1st post.
Dealer has provided me with a 2000 Escort loaner and if I could put a Reese 24K 5th wheel hitch on top of it I would continue my trip. I was pulling a 15K 5th Wheel RV when all went down. Koho
OK, I will stop bitching! This is a good way for me to blow off steam.
You know get it off your chest. It has been helping with the blood presure.
I'll be the first to say that Ford makes the best truck EVER! I have owned so many73,76,78,79,83,93,95,00,03,05,08. This just hurts you know?
Well anyway sorry I'll try not to say anything bad!

I hear ya man, I used to gripe and complain about my broken and in the shop all the time 04 6.0 Excursion............I stopped eventually, I still have the Ex cuz no one else make an SUV diesel and because I am a Ford truck guy!! Hey if the 6.4 aint getting it done for you though go get an Dmax LMM, that's what I did, 15k and only oil changes and 16 mpgs in town. There was no way I could go with that 6.4, I don't trust the blue oval right now since they are still using Navstar problem plauged motors! I quit complaining and moved on for now! Hopefully Ford will come around with a reliable engine that will please us Ford owners!! Still love my Ex but it just came out of the shop 2 days ago, again but oh well......... Shoot I had replaced my tranny and 1 turbo and 2 oil leaks by the time I had driven 15k miles in my Ex......oh and those re-flashes....LOL
Hey it is what it is, your experiences in my opinion should be shared here. It's nice to hear the horror stories too, not just the (I drove my truck 387,000 miles and never had 1 problem) stories. Don't feel bad at all......Like I said it is what it is!

Like ford390 said...the radiator blowing is pretty common on the OEM version. To bad the dealership didn't complete the repair properly...and you are still having problems.
Picked up my F-350 today and the problem was the RGR Cooler Tanks and a faulty EGR Valve/Sensor. Apparently the sensor went bad and one of the tanks cracked injecting radiator fluid into the hot exhaust pipe causing the radiator to empty and generate the white smoke (steam). The tanks are for cooling the heated engine exhaust prior to arrival into the Catalitic Converter ?? Both tanks were replaced along with the valve.
I really can't complain, Santa Maria Ford, Santa Maria, California did me right with a loaner vehicle and all and the Service Advisor Nate was very sympathetic to my problem and was very helpful. The main diesel mechanics name is Tim and I spoke with him 3 days ago about my problems. He was very respectful and explained things that I as a layman could understand. I rate this dealership a #1 and remember I was 3,000 miles away from my dealership on a road trip and they treated me like a homey!
Thanks to all who posted on my thread in a time of need, even you Tom.
