I have a 2000 f150 supercab 4x4 flareside and after a four wheeling trip I noticed that the box had made contact with the cab and caused damage to the cab. I realize during the trip there was a lot of frame flex involved but I can't imagine damgage being done. The rig is still in warranty but the dealer refuses to fix it. Has anyone else seen this problem or have any suggestions?
Yes they will twist and make contact. Chasing coyotes or severe off-road stuff must be approached with caution. I used mine on a "mild" coyote chase and ended with some dents in the cab where the bed hit it. Another time off road resulted in enough flex that I heard it hit.
I doubt your dealer will fix it. He can always say you exceeded recommended practice limits or some other mish mash. This is a common problem for anyone who goes off road and gets into uneven ground.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Feb-02 AT 09:43 PM (EST)]hey 4x4, had my 99 f-150 for abouy two months when on a little four wheel adventure i also slamed my bed into my cab @#$%!!. took it to
the dealer very hot and it was repaired at no cost to me!! they also tossed in a loaner..
bought mine in palm springs and took it to same dealer, this will
probably be your best bet at getting your truck fixed.
also it might help to know that the bed on the flareside is much closer to the cab then on a straight bed.why i have no idea!!?
one other thing 4x4 i put a 6 inch rcd lift on my truck with 35 inch
tires and this has not happen since
