Block Heater

I have a 96 psd and its been sitting for 2 weeks in 15 to 25 degree weather i pluged it in for 3 hrs and it fired right up. i cant believe how much of a difference the block heater makes.

On mine, not only does it make the engine start up real easy, it defrosts the window too!

I measured one time, and the block gets to 140°F when it's 15°F outside.

You're going to have to add a zero here! It's about 1000W.

The element has a strong positive temperature coefficient. When it's cold, the power is much higher and it decreases as the element gets hot. This way it acts as a bit of a thermostat. I have heard that it can be over 1200W below zero.
