I have an 08 F350 auto Diesel. So far only 2k miles on it. I am pretty happy overall except for the mileage. It's got great power. But there is a ticking sound during warmup. Also a clunk on the left side over bumps. I am going to have Ford check those things out when I take it in for the first oil change. The thing I am wondering is if the lag in the throttle I am getting is normal. When I hit the gas it take a solid 2-4 seconds to go anywhere. It's my first Diesel so I am used to the throttle response of gas. But it seems real bad. If I want to pass someone I have to plan on the lag. Once it kicks in it takes off but it reall does take a while to get goint. Normal?
i think its a mix between the electrionic drive by wire which takes a second for the signal to go to the computer then the puter to decide how much throttle, then the turbo lag which takes a bit for boost to build up.
Not sure if its suppose to take 4 second but i would think prettty close.
I noticed in my 450 that I have a little lag accelerating out of greenlights. Then I pulled up next to a Volvo wagon at the next light, I hit the button for Tow/haul. "Katy bar the door!" That 8K+lb. truck blew the doors off that Volvo. I was shocked how fast it went and shifted quick too.
In the future, if I want to "Hole Shot" someone at a light, it's Tow/Haul mode for me !!!
my mustang had that problem, this new drive-by-wire system ford has takes time for the signal to get across, the stang was better with a tuner but i am not touching the new rig with any performance parts till warrenty is up or i have it in writing that my dealer will help me out as much as possible
