Amber check engine light

Yesterday when i started my truck(no block heater) it ran very rough for a few seconds then smoothed out. The temp was about 18 degrees. Today when I started no rough running but an amber check engine light came on. The outside temp was about 18 degrees. I had the block heater plugged in before this start. I have all the latest flashes. The truck seems to run alright. Hate to have the dealer mess with it. The last time a had a check engine light I rebooted the computer(disconnect the batteries and reconnect) Don't know if this is an advisable practice. but it got rid of the light! 2004 F250 4X2 CC shortbox torqueshift 3.73 rear. The last trip on truck 390 miles on 20 gallons of fuel can't beat it!

Your best bet is to get the ECM read to see what is setting the light. There are a lot of sensors and conditions that will trigger it - many you don't want to ignore. Most autoparts stores will do this for you if you don't have an appropriate scanner/code reader (CAN protocol).

Resetting the computer by unhooking the batteries may or may not make the light go off, but it want hurt anything. With out a code reader I don't know of a way to check and see what the light is on for.

You would be better off to find out what set the light. You can find OBD II CAN readers on ebay that are pretty cheap. Then once you get the code just start a thread here in the forum and you can get alot of answers.

Last Friday the outside temp warmed to about 40degrees. No amber check engine light on all starts since Friday. If it happens again I'll get it checked out. Thanks guys.

According to my service manual, P2285 is "Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low".

Is this a gasser or a diesel? I'd guess that that code could mean anything from a bad pressure sensor to a bad pressure regulator or fuel pump or ...

This is what my service manual says. This manual was purchased for a 2004 F250 6.0L Diesel, but I don't know if it is engine specific or not.

Check engine light is OUT! The local dealer did the following;Cleaned carbon from turbo assembly per TSB 07-16-1. Also replaced tube assy. p/n 6C3Z*9T515*A. Have no idea what the service bulletin or tube assy refer to. No one around when I picked up truck.

I believe the tube assembly is an updated oil line for the turbo.

I'm currently getting the same code from my 03 6.0. truck strts up fine in the am but once it's warm it runs horrible, rough idle and even stalls, i'm gonna start with changing the ICP Valve and take it from there. My check engine light has been on for the past 2 weeks, let me know how you make out.

My 04 does the same thing everytime I do a cold start around 10 degrees or colder. Took it to the dealer 3 times (twice over night) and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It still runs great. I just ignore it now and disconnect the batteries whenever I get around to it.

Thanks sacu for the info. Mine isn't going to the dealer unless the engine or tranny blows! Everything works great at present time.
