An engine builder here told me that if I put 87 and up 302 car heads on the truck that it would perform better and have higher compression....and no emissions?? is this right? anyone done this?
The shop is an affiliation with NAPA of arkansas.
in Morrilton Arkansas. Apparently he is good. Ive heard of him a few times.
he will do the complete engine for 1200 balanced for 1400.

If he's talking about replacing the 84 heads with the 86-91 E6SE car heads, he's wrong. Those heads had 2 cc's less chamber volume, hardly enough to raise the ratio to make a difference. Going to E7TE truck heads, will raise it maybe a half point over 84 heads. As for emissions difference, that's debateable. The E6 heads and GT40P's have revised chambers with relocated spark plugs, that supposedly improved emissions, but the E6 head reduced the HP output by 25 hp over E7TE's. Even more in comparing them to GT40P's.
