Hmmm, I can't figure out what this noise is. Everytime I cut the wheel, I hear a loud squeaking coming from the front of the truck. I had the upper/lower ball joints done about 34K miles ago (has 172K now), along with the sway bar bushings. Anybody have a clue what this noise is? I've heard it on other Super Dutys before. Read my sig. to see what my truck is. The noise bothers me, and waiting til it gets worse or for something else to break is NOT an option for me. Feel free to chime in fellas!!
The cutting the wheel tosses a wrench in things. Usually squeaky front end are usually the culprit of the leaf springs. I usaull spray some lube in and around the leaf spring bushings. I use PB Blaster because it is safe to use on the rubber. That keeps it quiet for a couple months.
I'll try spraying around the spring bushings (I'm guessing the ones tucked between the springs and the axle). I already replaced the plastic bushings for the front springs a year ago, so the noise those made (only when hitting bumps) is gone. What's the best route? Penetrating oil? I'm thinking something more viscous than WD-40.
If you're referring to the bushings on the front and back of the springs that go in between the two, I'd say it's a 2 man job. Jack up the truck one side at a time, use a large 3 foot prybar to separate the springs, and remove the old bushings. Then insert the updated kit (2 pieces), remove prybar, and tap into place with a hammer. That's how I did mine anyway, and it worked mint.
Mine did that when the track bar was loose. It was after installing a leveling kit and I didn't get enough torque on the track bar bolt. Came loose in a few hundred miles.
