Trying to match '07 lariat wood trim...

I'm building a custom console to replace the front jumpseat. I'm going salvage the leather from the factory unit and would like to trim it in wood to match the interior plastic wood trim. What would be the best wood/stain combo to use? Thanks.

I'm not real sure as far as what kind of wood/stain to use, but you may want to look into www.oemdash.com . The guy there is supposed to be able to match the factory wood grain real well (and the pictures of the excursion parts seem to match).

Not sure about the 07's but, my 05 lariat has cherry wood. I made a shift **** out of cherry and stained it to match. So if you can get a hold of some cherry check the grain with your truck. There are also some lumber yards that have cherry veneer with double stick tape on the back. Just peel and stick.

The actual name of the trim in the 06 Lariat per Superior Dash is Cherry Zebrano. Don't know if that's what Ford calls it or if 06 and 07 is the same. I'm the So, Tx Distributor for these people and while I don't do a great many dash kits, the ones I have done using Superior have always been a perfect match. From looking at the newer Lariat's, the interior seems to be the same as mine (06). Don't know if what you're doing would be covered by a dash/console kit or you're just trying to match color on actual wood. Good luck and send us pictures of the finished product.

Thanks guys. I am trying to make real wood match the fake stuff in my '07. I have seen black walnut that was stained pretty close to match. Guess I'll have to do numerous sample panels.
