I have an 04 F150 Screw xlt with the power adjustable heated side mirrors. The other day I was in a tight spot and went to fold the driverside mirror in and it broke off. Are these not breakaway mirrors? Shoulden't you be able to fold them in? I used some electrical tape to hold the two halves together and the adjustment and heat still function. Is there anyware you can get replacement mirrors besides the dealer? They want 172.00 each for them and all the internet searching I have done has not been successful. There are plenty of mirrors out there just none like the factory one. As always, any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
I have the same mirrors. Heated, power mirrors w/ built-in turn signals. I've folded mine in a number of times with no problems. Actally, I smacked mirrors with a delivery van once and it folded in nicely with no damage.
They should fold in, however with the age of our trucks, I doubt you will get Ford to even look at you under warrantee.
Depends on which way you folded them! I do not think they go out (mirror facing away from truck)? I know I had a truck that only came in (mirror towards truck) and would not move other way.
Summer is right, the mirrors fold towards the door of the truck, not towards the fender with the mirror facing out. They have a bit of a stop that they click into when they are extended in the normal position.
My buddy hit the garage with his GMC extending mirrors (heated, turn signals, etc...) on his new 3/4 ton and the replacment cost for one mirror from GM was around $500, so $90 - $100 is a steal of a deal.
no you're wrong, they do fold in towards the fender, but not all the way flat against the fender. Push forward on yours and you'll see. I just tried on mine last night.

Haven't tried mine, but my last truck did not budge forward! They only came in.
