Flexplate bolts question HELPPPPPP!!!!
I need to get the specs for an 89 f250 deisel flexplate. The bolts loosened up and broke the flexplate from the previous owner. I went to put in the new one with the old bolts and one broke. I bought new bolts and they were pretty expensive, so i'm guessing they might be torque-to-yield bolts. We need the truck desperately on the farm so any help would be appreciated. Either torque specs or the stretch sequence. I can't find the info anywhere and i don't want to pay AllData $25 for one question. Thanx in advance

Put a little lock tite on the bolts, I just used my impact on mine. Thats how we usually do them at the shop we work at. Some we do torque. Did you try autozone.com? They have a good repair guide and tell the torque specs. If not stop down to your ford dealer or give em a call. They should tell you.

The manual says the flex plate goes on the crankshaft then a metal reinforcement ring. The bolts are torqued in a star pattern to 47 ft. lbs in three passes. Such as 15, 30 then 47 ft lbs. If the bolts you're using don't have a factory sealer on the threads, coat the threads with lock tite. There is no mention the bolts are torque to yield.
