How do you know he was tailgating? Are you a physicist?
Do us a favor and STFU....
Oh c'mon cisco, no need for that! I was not offended, I don't even think he directed anything at me in particular.
I wasn't tailgaiting by any means. Maybe too close, maybe not. When something like that gets shot up from a tire going 60 miles per hour, it's just a random thing. I could have been further back and maybe it would have gone through my radiator. Or even further back and I could have gotten a one-hopper underneath the truck...maybe take the oil pan out. Or I could have been closer and maybe it would have just shot right over the top of my truck. The log was just lying on the side of the road. It was very narrow due to construction (the big concrete highway dividers were on that side). Who knows? Anyway, it clipped my hood (little dinger and some scratches), but the brunt of it was the windshield. I got sprayed with a little glass, but most of it went in the middle and towards the passengers side. If my wife would have been in the truck, we'd likely be in the hospital with her recovering from a heart attack! As it was, nobody's fault, nobody hurt, and insurance will cover it. I pay a bit more to have only a $100.00 deductible. The glass folks will be out tomorrow (Wed) to fix the windshield, and I have an appointment with the claims adjuster to look at the hood.
This is why some say don't tailgate. I don't know how close you were when it happened....altough, because I was tailgating one day, I missed a ladder flying through the air! The truck in front of me had a ladder in the bed with the top of it laying on the cab of the truck. I saw it start to wiggle and then it just stood up in the wind and launched high into the air. I went right under it and saw it come crashing down behind me! If I was any farther back, I would have been history!
