Does anyone know if any companies make a 7 pin RV trailer plug that can fit into the factory wiring harness plugs without having to splice wires. Ive seen the ones at the parts stores for newer trucks but not the older ones.
I couldn't find any for older trucks either. So, I went to the pick and pull yard and got the two plugs from the rear of a 78 truck and made my own trailer light adapter that plugged right into the original harness plug- no splicing the original harness this way. I only wired for a four wire plug! (small trailer w/ no brakes) -Ed
Heres what I have found. Theres a flat 4 pin T-connector that will fit in the factory harness then there is a 4 pin to 7 blade adapter. The adapter has the extra wires for the brakes and stuff. I found the T-connector at one place online for 15 bucks but they want 10 bucks for shipping. I might call them and see if they will cut me a deal on shipping if I get a couple of these T-connectors.
Score! Found 2 sets of T-connectors on ebay simular to the ones like Dennis posted but without the 4 pin plug. Thats ok cause I will splice them into the new 7 pin + 4 pin plug I bought. Total cost with shipping for the 2 T-connectors $9.14. What a smokin deal
