Thanks for looking and even better helping me solve my issues. This is my first diesel and I am ecstatic about it. Heres a run down of the truck:
1987 ford f 250
6.9 idi
76000 original I think? (They were real old)
The issue that I am having is the truck only seems like it has two gears. If I am going 35 miles an hour the truck is at 2200 rpm. It sounds like it need another shift. I have looked all over trying to diagnose this but to no avail. I see that there is an issue with the speedo/tach sensor but they seem to work fine. Help would be great because I love this damn thing. I just want it to run right. thanks again and happy new year!
I am assuming you have an automatic? I am also assuming it's not overdrive? If it's not overdrive, then you have a c6, which is a simple non-computer tranny, which is controlled by vacuum from the vacuum pump, and a variable vacuum control on the throttle linkage. Then a vacuum line runs down to the passenger side rear of the tranny to the vacuum modulator. You need to check this system out.
