New oil pump

New oil pump
Well some of you either have experienced or heard about the oil pumps breaking on our engines. If you have ever been into one of these engines you know how long and spindly looking the oil pump is and they are somewhat prone to breakage, not as a common problem but it does happen.
So as some of you know I am in the process of collecting pieces for a new race engine and well I picked up my new oil pump today. Jon Kaase developed a new oil pump a while back to combat this breakage problem and until now i hadn't gotten my hands on one but I have to say this thing is massive.
Now not everyone needs one of these by any stretch of the imagination, but if your building a serious performance engine you might want to give these a look. He used the technology used in the original CJ pumps that feed oil to BOTH sides of the gerotor gear pump thus eliminating cavitation and in fact this thing just keeps increasing pressure even above 7000rpm where the stock style pumps begin to fall off. Now this is NOT a HV pump but if it's filling properly and not cavitating there is NO need for HV
Anyway here is a couple of pic

hi monster, little brother has just bought one of these pumps for his 604 c.i. F100 ,they
are HUGE, inside is very nice and large, the body should never break, we have not had
any previous problems because we always used a home made support bracket from the
top of the pump to to the main cap. am waiting to see what improvements in oil supply
pressure etc. when engine is re-assembled soon for racing season, yes we are behind so what else is new!! neil

Glad I caught this thread. Awhile back I put new heads etc. on my old (87) motorhome 460. I recently put on a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I just got back from a 900+ mile round trip. I don't have a tach but I noticed the oil pressure from above idle to 60 mph the oil pressure stays at 60 lbs...once I hit 65 mph or if I'm working it pulling a hill at any speed, the oil pressure drops TO as low as 50 lbs...usually about 57 at 65 mph. Like I said, I don't have a tach but she's wound up pretty good at 65 MPH
It doesn't drop suddenly or fluctuate rapidly and I'm sure there's enough oil pressure, but I'm wondering what's going on...Should I overfill about a 1/2 quart?
I use 10w30 synthetic.
