I replaced all my dash light bulbs yesterday and obviously the bulb for my check engine light was blown because as soon as I started it to check all the bulbs the light was on. Got the scanner out and get
That is all of the codes. As for the O2 sensor codes is it just a matter of replacing the sensor. They are probably the originals. Truck has 260,000 kms. The cylinder misfires have me concerned. I just did plugs and wires in the summer and also a compression test for peace of mind due to the mileage and compression was right around 180 psi in all cylinders. What else could it be? Coil pack. Truck seemed to run fine. I would have not even known there was a problem if I didn't change the bulbs in the dash. Any guidance or direction on where to start and what to do would be greatly appreciated
I would suspect the coil pack. The coil pack has 3 transformers in it, one fires cylinder 1&6, another for 2&5 ,and 3&4. Normally the insulation breaks down on the coil pack and allows the spark to short to ground (tracking). A quick fix is to remove the coil pack and clean it real well, mix up a batch of epoxy and apply an even coat all around the coil pack, after about 15 min the epoxy is set up enough to reinstall the coil pack. Silicone RTV works better but it takes a day to cure.
hi, i would disconect the battery for a while and see if it resets the computer.
i run on propane and it kicks out loads of codes but runs fine. i have to reset to run on petrol for its m.o.t. test with no problems, 97 4,2 v6. good luck bokker.
I cleared the codes with my scanner but have not driven it yet to see if the light comes back on. If it does, can somebody please tell me what to do about the O2 sensor codes? Replace the sensor or is there anything else that can be done with it? What about the misfire? New coil pack? Thanks
Drove it today and the code for the O2 sensor was back on within 5 minutes. No misfire code yet so I bought a new O2 sensor and will do that first and see if that keeps the light off.
