4WD trouble
I would think that my best bet in this case is to bring it to a dealer; hopefully they will be familiar with this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
I live in Ohio salt zone where nothing but Stainless Steel and EXzotic compounds are in order.
I had to remove the shifter and replace the lever slide split nylon bushings with a solid telon sleeve bushing that runs the entire length of the slider pin. We have to be Machinist and Engineers here to overcome the drawbacks of the design in the Salt Zone.
No problems with the shifter since , slides in and out like it is suppose to better than when it was new.
The other issue I can't comment on . I would block the wheels and start it and have some one shift it in and out of 4w to see if the vacuum piston is responding. If you take the plastic shield of go slow with plenty of PB blaster and loosen those (3) 8mm fender bolts hold. The steel bolt and the Aluninum axle housing don't like each other and will corride leaving an almost insparatible bond.
Or send to someone that enjoys doing that trouble shooting for a small fee.
