After many weeks (in the part time), the air horn project is complete! I love them! Why Ford didn't offer an Air Horn option, I don't know... but, the truck is truely complete now. If anyone is intersted I'm using a vair compressor and a 5GL tank.... The horns are from Seige Engineering -- the guys who are all over the place on ebay... But, it really didn't cost me much. I am happy!
What can I say... Now my truck has b@lls!! Awesome!!
Oh... and if you're worried about what the fairer sex will think about them -- My wife loves them! Her words: 'This vehicle is a true highway warrior, if a civic cuts me off... they will 'hear' about it'.
At any rate, huge thanks goes out there to everyone who helped me with my electrical issues.
Take care

Same reason they didn't offer air brakes. Overkill. Even you admit in your reply that the air horns are just a loud tool to vent your frustration the next time a car cuts you off in traffic.
Might check your state laws to be on the safe side too. They're illegal on certain vehicles in some states. In Virginia they would be illegal on an Excursion......
§ 46.2-1060. Illegal sirens, whistles, etc.; unlawful use of warning devices; exceptions.
It shall be unlawful for any vehicle to be equipped with or for any person to use on any vehicle any siren or exhaust, compression or spark plug whistle, or horn except as may be authorized in this title. It shall be unlawful for any vehicle operated on a public highway to be equipped with any warning device that is not of a type that has been approved by the Superintendent. It shall further be unlawful for any person at any time to use a horn otherwise than as a reasonable warning or to make any unnecessary or unreasonably loud or harsh sound by means of a horn or other warning device. However, vehicles of common carriers or extraordinarily large and heavy vehicles may be equipped with such type of warning device as the Superintendent may require or permit.
Notwithstanding the provisions of this article, a siren, bell, or supplemental horn may be used on a vehicle as a noisemaker for an alarm system if the device is installed so as to prohibit actuation of the system by the driver while the vehicle is in motion.
(Code 1950, § 46-290; 1958, c. 541, § 46.1-284; 1962, c. 146; 1970, c. 283; 1989, c. 727.)
My wife is from alexandria Va...........Va. laws should not be used as an example for anything. one of only 2 or 3 states that outlaw radar detecters. Must be run by communists.....lol
Where did you physically mount the air horn? I took my single-chime locomotive horn off of my Suburban but haven't gotten around to figuring out where to mount it on my Excursion yet.
We have a three-chime Nathan air horn off of a locomotive in our bus but we don't often use it for normal driving. I found that it just confuses people and can lead to the cause of an accident. However, I have used it a few times like when a guy cut off the bus as we were approaching the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. He ended up right in front of the bus with his window down and he got an earful!

KK which Horns did you go with?
And more importantly we need pic's as to where you mounted and such.
Did you hook it up to your normal horn button or does it have it's own?

Well, ahh, yes. Can't argue that point at all.
But, a lot of states copy each other in motor vehicle laws. Kinda like "follow the leader". I would hate for TheHawk to have to meet some of the wild rambo rookies out there nowadays over something as simple as an air horn!
No worries VaSheriff, all kidding aside, I don't plan on blowing them all too often, and, if I were to do so, I'd certainly take a good look around before doing so. I'm actually more happy to have an air system now. On one of the other ports on the tank I put a quick-connect coupler, and I can then quickly attach a hose, to fill tires with, run air tools, what have you.
As far as mounting goes, I put them right behind the grill, pointed downwards -- There's 'just' enough room.
I bought one of these kit, except mine had a 5 gallon tank, and I did not pay anywhere near $500 -- got it under $300.
