The OEM Donaldson unit is the best thing going till you exceed 500 RWHP (this takes more than a tuner BTW). The OEM Donaldson powercore filters better than anything on the market, supplies more air than the 6.0 can use till you exceed 500RWHP, can hold over 3Lb of dirt and can last up to 80k miles between changes. Change the filter based on the "Filter Minder" under the hood.

Use your money on other things, ie gauges, exhaust, etc.

My truck came with an open K&N -the whole kit to the turbo. It was white, like it needed oil, so I oiled it real good. In less than 2 weeks the filter was white again, and the oil could've only gone one place! So I went on ebay and found the stock one and scrapped the K&N. Just my .02

They're worthless, especially K&N. They let too much dirt and dust into the turbo and motor. Keep the stock intake until you make a lot of horsepower. Plus they hold like 5 pounds of dirt and rarely need to be cleaned. Don't risk it.

The stock filter is a Donaldson, I would stick with that. Don't know about the Fram but the Donaldson gets the thumbs up for sure.

I like the stocker so much,I picked up a complete stock set-up from fleabay, complete all the way up to the turbo for under 40 bucks shipped, cheap spare kit for a like new filter...IMO.

Ohh..I also sold my AFE stg2 while I was at it,the inlet temps were terrible sucking in all that engine heat.Temps easily were 50+degrees above ambient with the AFE,and now a few degrees below ambient with the Donaldson

that's probably the worst thing you could do... for some reason the k/n ones seem to let lots of dust get by and cause damage to the compressor fins on the turbo....

and as far as the 500HP figure we keep using, i believe there is even more to be found in the stock unit... i have put my stock intake back on and i am going to try to reach my 600HP goal with a stocker.. i'm over 500 now and have no plans of putting my airaid unit back on unless i have dyno results that prove it makes more power, and so far it hasn't...
