The only thing I would personally advise steering clear of is the LLS (load levelling suspension). Many other will agree with me and many other will disagree.
I have this also, and never a problem with it. I thought for sure I'd blow an air bag or compressor by now, but still running strong.
I think the only thing I have done in 8 years, and 130,000 miles is replace the AC unit (had a leak) Replaced a coil/spark plug that went out. Some kinda transmission sensor. Heat shield around the cat convertor was ratteling, straped it back on.
I really think thats it. I keep debating getting a new truck soon (hate to say it, but the thaoe has my eye, and I hate Chevy!) but this truck is still running so strong and hasn't give'n me any major problems yet!
Just traded my 00 exp in on a newer 04 EB Exp. My 2000 had 200,000 miles and never had a problem with it, just gas tires and oil. Most reliable car I ever had. Just bought a 04 EB and love the car too, but the only problem is it has alot of sqeeks when driving down a rough road. Good luck.
Well my 2 cents would be that if you can afford it and like the newer body style look at getting '03 or newer, one with the new 3 valve 5.4 engine. It really does make a big difference over the older 5.4, both in power and fuel economy. We are getting around 17 to 18 mpg (my wife mostly drives it and she drives very conservatively---a rarity in this day and age). On a recent highway trip we hit the 400 mile mark before filling---my calculations reveal that to be 20 mpg. Not bad for a vehicle this size with this much power. The 3 valve 5.4 is very responsive, and pulls our boat way better than my '99 Super Duty 5.4. Very nice vehicle, but there are some rattles. I went through and tightened all the door latches and lubed the rubber weatherstrip and it silenced about 90% of the rattles though.
