I believe it does but why do you ask? The idler can be replaced as a unit.

Well I think the bearing in the pulley is no good any more,a few months back I had a bad power steering pump that was wearing out the belt funny and making a horrible noise ,after that it was good til about two weeks ago the noise came back so I have been changing out pulley's far the power steering pump, the smooth idler at the top,and the grooved one on the left under the alt. the spring in the tensioner seems fine ,the sound only happens when the truck is at normal temps when it,s cold it doesn,t do it also when I am sitting at a light and it is making this noise it will suddenly stop ,so next pulley to change is the tensioner I guess and on from there

I know a belt , sometimes even new will do that. You can get an idler pulley assembly and install it and see if it stops it. If not take it back. That way you will know if the bearing is the prob. You could also try WD-40 in the bearing if you can get it to it. Also while the truck is running and making the noise take a bar of soap and rub it on both sides of the belt one side at a time. If that stops it it is the belt. Be careful not to get your fingers in there though. LOL

Hey thats a good idea I,m going to try the soap tomorrow come to think of it I bought the belt from an after market place there stuff isn,t that bad but you never know and if that doesn,t work I will try the assembly I don,t know if any one els has this kinda luck but for me it seems to happen in three,s, oil leak under the ped, fixed,I think my injector o rings are shot ,now this noise ,I guess it,s over due for some work because nothing has ever really gone wrong till now it,s at that age ,but I am willing to fix everything and anything because this truck has been so good to me

thanks neal

Well I tried the soap on the belt trick, still making the noise,I even tried the old belt (It,s in the truck as a spare) still the same noise I am starting to think it is the alternator because when I take the belt off and spin it I can here a similar sound just not as loud and it feels kinda grindy but who knows maybe it,s the water pump or maybe the vac pump ahhhh I can,t even lift the hood fast enough to here it by the time I get out there it stops ,also the bearing on the tension idler seems to be good
