Ok, I am needing some help. I am installing my remote start, and it has an input from the wait to start light so it wont start until the glow plugs are warm and the "Wait to start light" is out.
Does anyone know if there is an output on the Central Junction box for the wait to start light, or can I tap into this wire from somewhere else?
I wouldn't tap into that. The controller should have an option in seconds on how long to start once the ignition is turned on. Just set it to 20 seconds and call it good.
Read through your instruction manual or give us some part numbers to find it.
The wait to start circuit is in the CAN (kind of a Computer lan) circuit I don't think there is a wire you can hook to. just set up a time delay before crank.
Yep they are correct you can’t access the wait to start light circuit on our trucks. You need to use the timer if your alarm has that feature or use a delay timer relay like a “DEI 528T DEI528T Pulse Timer”. Time your wait to start light a few times on cold starts and go a second or two longer. When my alarm was first installed it did not have a delay and started immediately. Although it started every time it can’t be good for the truck.
I was thinking about tapping into the actual circuit on the indicator light in the dash. The alarm has the option of wating till 12v clears on the tap before starting. So, if I were to tap into just the output to the dash light indicator I think i would be good, which shouldnt affect any of the glow plug functions.
The wait to start light is on a board there isn't a "wire" that can be accessed it’s also supposedly only a 3volt led. You also can't tap into the glow plug side of the circuit as they continue to heat up after the engine starts. The older trucks had a 12v light bulb on the dash that you could use. I guess that was too easy so Ford changed it!
Ahh.. poop. The 3volt led on the dash blows. I was hopin to just tap into the circuit for it, but being 3 volts the led wont do me any good.
I guess i will have to settle on setting up the remote start to just wait for x amount of seconds.
