F250 Axles?

I'm looking at a 89 F250. It has a ZF-5 tranny, 460...and I don't know what kind of axles....

I was wondering what kind of axles usually come in this type of truck. Did they come with the sterlings, or had D60's? I'm probably going to buy it and I'm probably going to lift it...so I'd like to know what kind of axles I have so I can see what kind of tires I can stuff under it.

Also, did these have SD or some type of TBI? I have three SD trucks, but this looks different. Kind of like off a chevy or something... Anyone know?

Matt

Rear axle: Sterling 10.25 / F250 H/D

F250 Light Duty = Ford 8.8.

Thanks for the reply NumberDummy, Do you happen to know what type of fuel injection they used? They still make the 10.25, don't they? What kind of gear did they usually put in them? Forgot to mention also, this is a 4x4, do you know what kind of axle it is upfront?

Sorry for all the questions, just haven't had a chance to go check it out yet, and I don't really know what to expect out of it.

Look on the Warranty Plate/Certification Label for the AXLE code.

When decoded, that will tell the type/ratio/load capacity & w/ or w/o Limited Slip.

If 4WD, it'll also include the front axle code.

FTE has decoders: look above: Articles/Specs.

Or post it here.

Dunno whether Ford still uses the 10.25...I retired in 1997.

VIN Engine Code: 8th digit = G = 1987/91 460 EFI.

LOL...if no one asked questions, I wouldn't have anything to do.
