clutch slipping

I've heard that you can use ash from a wood fire to "re-condition" a clutch without removing it.....anyone know how that would be done?

If the clutch is slipping, NOTHING is going to recondition it except a new clutch. First of all, you need to find out why it's slipping. That normally indicates some sort of fluid getting on the disc, flywheel, or pressure plate. If the slave cylinder (M5OD) or the rear main bearing seal are leaking, the bottom of the bellhousing should be wet with brake fluid (slave cylinder) or motor oil (rear main).

The last thing you want to do is introduce anything into that bellhousing that wasn't designed to go in there.

I had an overheating problem where the engine was boiling over quite a bit so one of my thoughts was that it may be slipping due to engine coolant getting on the clutch pressure plate. I also use the truck as a plow truck so my second thought was that with all the stopping and starting I may have glazed it as I was feathering the clutch to start out while pushing snow. I've driven alot of manuals but this is the first time I've used one for plowing.
