I'm still new to this site, but have been sifting through the MANY posts here. I read alot about cam swaps. I have a set of headers from a Mustang 5.0 that I plan to install, when I can finish the exhaust since they won't bolt right up, and am considering a cam that was recommended here. Do I have to change anything with the efi on a '93 when I put the cam in, or will everything still read properly? Thx -Rick
if its a cam recomended here thats computer friendly and then you dont have to change nothing. it will work fine witht he stock computer wich cam was it?

DJ,
I believe it was the Comp 35-308-8 cam. I'll be rebuilding the engine probably this summer and will swap the cam for more power. I'm also going to post a gearing question in a few, but don't want to hijack this topic. Thx -Rick
If you want power... Stroke it! 392 cubes, there is no replacement for displacement!
My engine has seen better days, and while it still gets me around, when I get back from Iraq, with that tax free money burning a hole in my pocket, me and my dad will be dropping a built 392 in her. I am pretty excited.
The hardware mods will add power, but software mods will allow you to make the most of it. The chip increases the timing, and increases fuel pulse width, things that will help if you change cams, add headers, or whatever else.
Well I think we all have gotten a little off topic here. I understand adding headers, and a cam will help, but I am curious about the JET Performace chip that plugs inline to the trucks ECM. Does anyone have any experience with this chip?
I have a 95 5.8 with the (Red) jet performance chip which is supposed to increase milage and performance. I didnt notice any difference at all really. I think piggy back chips are a waste of money. Just my opinion. I did notice a substantial difference with an MSD coil and timing bump though. Well worth the $150 it costs for new plugs, wires and coil.
