97 f150 ball joint ??
Ok I got a question about what my mechanic told me. I want to know if he is ripping me off or not, but this is my question. First off I got a 97 ford f150 supercab 4x4 with a 4.6. I need the lower ball joints replace. He told me that for the 97 f150 model ONLY, the upper ball joint has to come off too, to take off the lower balljoint. He said the 96 or the 98 model you dont have to take off the upper, but the 97 you do. Any experts out there want to tackle my question? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I just did mine today...was a pleasure to do,I couldn't believe it....I seperated the hub/knuckle from the tie-rod end and popped the upper A arm off with a pickle fork, since I was replacing them as well...I pulled the axle nut off,and removed everything as a unit once I popped the lower joint from the knuckle and A-arm...2 cracks from a sledge and the old ball joint was out..I pressed in the new with a floorjack, applying upwards pressure to the ball joint, and tapping on the lower A arm to seat in to place ..was quite simple..I was surprised

i changed just my lower ball joints on my 97 f 150 and i didnt touch the upper ball joints i jsut un bolted the upper one and hit the knuckle with a hammer and the upper popped out of the hole so i did not mess the seal up at all and i did the rest and just changed my lower balljoints
