running rich
1983 Ford Ranger 2.0,
Truck was running rough, Running rich and stalling when I purchased it. We have completed a tune up and rebuilt the carb. Still ran rich. Have since removed egr and plated the port.... still ran rich but now idled without stalling but idled irratic. Sealed up all vacuum lines, unplugged O2 censor. Still is buring rich. Please help all suggestions are welcome. Is there a kit to bypass egr valve? Should we be using different carb from an 82 perhaps? Would removing the computer help???????????????????????????????????????

yup... has a computer on the right wheel well... controls some vacuum valves and electrical and yes it has what looks like an o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold, i just un plugged it but not sure if i have to ground it out.... i did adjust the fuel mixture control however, is there a idle adjust screw on an 83?? and where would it be... i think it is controled by the computer with an idle air control motor on the side of the carb, controlled by the comp but im not sure... dont quote me on all this, im not sure on all this stuff
tomorrow i'm going to try and vent off a port on the egr housing to see if it makes any difference... if it doesnt i'm just going to try and find an older carb to fit.... tried everything else
i CAN'T be the only person running into problems with an 83
i heard this was going to be a headache and it's proving to be one
