I got a 1-bbl carb set up on my 300, and I'm pretty sure its not hooked up properly, The vacuum diagram is gone, and there are quite a few vacuum caps on the carb right now. Maybe someone knows the correct setup, or where I can get some info to help me get the hoses in the right places. I'm experiencing high ideling problems right now, and I'm pretty sure the way it is setup is the problem.
On my 82 there are only 2 hoses going to the carb, bolth of them join together and go to the vacum advance on the distributer, other than that, I have one hose for my PVC valve, and one for the vacum motor on the breather.

Let me run you through my setup, and you can tell me what you think.
My vacuum advance is hooked up to the carb, but at the top there is an attachment for a line, except mine is open, I have no line going to it. Also at the very bottom, around the idle screw is also another attachment, this one is capped though.
Now in the intake, I have a vacuum tree, which has a line from the brake booster, and also the PCV valve.
Lets see, the one by the idle screw is hooked into the vacum advance on mine, and the one on the top is capped off, and I have never seen one with something hooked to it, so I think it would be safe to cap it off. I have one hose on my vacum tree, which is supposed to run to the maze that controls the vacumn motor on the breather, but mine is hooked direct, and I don't have power brakes yet. Top me it sounds like yours is hooked up correctly, but you still might have a vacum leak, cap off that top port, and if that doesn't help, check the ends of your hoses for cracks, and check for a small vacum port on the other side of your carb, mine has one on the base towards the front on the engine side of the carb, and it looks like it was never hooked to anything, mine had a vacum leak, and that was the cause.
Good Luck

Thanks for all the info, you have been a big help, I think I have located the problem to a leaking vacuum cap. go figure. A 2 cent part fixed my ideling problem, thanks again
