Thanks for replying Robert. These plastic thingys sit directly underneath the valve keepers at the top of valve stem and i can spin them with my fingers. They are not the valve seals that sit at the bottom of the valve stem on the head.
Give North American Diesel Auto Service a try- they are located in Maple Ridge, so parts can get up on the bus overnight.
Glad to see you found the web site! Lots of great info here.
PS, you can just respond with a quick reply at the bottom of the screen, that way you will not keep starting a new thread on the same subject FWIW.
Thanks you guys, yes those are the pieces im looking for, there on every valve not just exhaust, and look like original factory installation.New to diesels new to computers and still working on my shoe laces thanks for the info.
Those things are just another type of umbrella seal. The factory manual shows no extra parts in there like that, only, in order from top down, Retainer locks, retainer, then the spring and damper spring on the outside to the rotator on the bottom, and on the inside, either the umbrella seal on the exhaust up at the top of the valve stem, or the positive rubber seal pressed onto the top of the guide ( or rubber positive seals on both guides and no umbrella seal on the exhaust depending on year ). No extra plastic piece in there. I suspect the heads have been of before and someone put the extra pieces in.
I would be inclined to go with the seals in the Reinz gasket set. They should be top quality. I've been using their gasket sets and seals on European diesels for years.
