Does anyone know why the right directional light in my '93 Ranger would burn steady when I hit the brake pedal? I also noticed that the cruise control shuts off when I put on the right directional. Bulbs are good, but I have not changed the flasher yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Well the cruise control senses when the brake lights come on & that triggers it to disconnect.
Additionaly if we have a brake light out, the cruise won't set.
Did this problem come about after some event???? Event could be anything from a repair, to adding aftermarket equiptment, to a acting out trailer wiring harness or aftermarket trailer plug.
OK, one other clue....I hear static on the AM radio when I hit the brake pedal or use the right directional, but not with the left. Tomorrow I'll troubleshoot the wire harness for the trailer, and clean and re-attach the ground wire. Bulbs are all good.
Thanks for the reply. Right now everything is working fine, but I noticed that the last couple of times it happened was after a rain. A day later it was working OK again. I'm thinking moisture affecting the trailer wiring. If it happens again I'll take a serious look.
