I have been trying to decide for a while now on new tires size. Unfortunately, when buying my truck I chose a Lariat 2 wheel drive over the FX4. I do love my truck but the tires that come on the two wheel drive (265/60R18) look like little doughnuts, especially since adding 2.5"Auto Spring (see pictures in gallery) I have been through the entire gallery of 04-08 F150s on this web site. What I have determined is that the wheel and tires I see on most of the FX4s suit my taste the best. I am not into huge mpg robbing tires and do not want to change wheels so I am stuck with the 18" part of this equation. I just want to fill up some fender well.
If I am not mistaken, most of the ones I am seeing are BFG Rugged Trail or GY Wrangler AT/S which I think are OEM. I know that the Ford web site lists standard equipment size for the FX4 as 275/65R18. I am trying to make sure of this size before ordering, I want to make sure they are not 275/70 series or that they are not some other size on 17" wheels. Can some of you 4x4 and FX4 guys confirm this size, especially those of you with pics.
If you can tell me how you are liking the tires mentioned above with mileage numbers that would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance.
I had the GY 275/65/18 on my 06 FX4. I put new BFG 305/65/18 and just sold the (4) Goodyear tires with 10K miles on them to a neighbor.

Wedge,
Thanks, I think your truck is one of the ones I had been looking at. Your truck does look good with 305/65R18. Did you notice much difference after the switch.
Anymore of you 4x4 and FX4 owners please chime in especially if you have pics in gallery.

I have not noticed any difference. When I put these tires on my 03' FX4 I could tell they were on there but this truck's cab is so much quieter that I cannot tell. I dropped MPGs 1 mile per gallon. I was averaging 15 and now I average 14.
my 04 FX4 came stock with the BFG 275/65/R18's...so far with 54k miles on them they have been good....I will replace them with the same....at Costco they are about $160 each....not too bad.
I have the GoodYear AT/S LT 275/65/18's and I really like them. They seem to have GREAT traction but they do ride a little stiff. I don't have the leveling on the front.
My '05 Fx4 has 275/65/18 with over 27,000 mlies on them and I would guess they should be good for about 10,000 more. They are BF Goodrich Rugged Trails and and have been trouble free, and my truck is very quiet and handles well with them. The FX4's sit high so there is room for a larger tire to fit, but they should fill your wheel wells nicely.

Thanks Greg,
Yep that is the look I am wanting, I am going to the GoodYear Web Site now to do some more research. I assume when you say LT that your tires are a multi ply. Are they 10 ply or do you know, hopefully the website will give me that answer. Oh, how many miles do you have onthem now?
P.S. I love those weather tech floor mats. I am ordering me a set just as soon as I am over Christmas! Do you have weather tech in the rear also?
I have an FX4 but I have after market rims with Nitto 285/65R18's on them. I did have the same tire on the stock rims before I bought the new ones. You can still see pics in my gallery if you click through them.
Before I bought the Nitto's I had BFG Rugged Trail 275/65r18's they lasted about 33K before they were shot.
Thanks Greg,

The LT tires that I have are the optional ones offered by Ford. I assume that they are 6 Ply rated, to tell you the truth I have never checked to see exactly what they are rated at. I just know that we have the BFG's on my wifes Explorer and I don't really care for them. I like the GoodYears better. They have about 8600 miles on them now and still look brand new.
Yes, I have the WeatherTech's in the front and LOVE them. I got the rear one for Christmas but haven't put it in yet.
