abs light & speedometer
ok guys i need some help the speedometer stopped working on christmas eve just got a chance today to take a look at it since it's all electronic i didn't really find anything . i kind of just checked plugs and the such to make sure everything was connected. also at the same time the abs light came on and stayed on i noticed the abs light would occassionaly go out but came back on and stayed on also noticed the speedometer jump up to 20 mph a couple of times but immediatly drop back to 0 and stay there. i've read about the vss since i'm from the older mechnical generation what & where is it , how do i test it , can a driveway mech. replace it without ripping everything apart. i have a banks 6 gun w/pds so i can recover codes what code would i be looking for thanks for any help i recieve oh yea has anyone purchased one of the repair manual discs off of ebay are they any good do they cover the 6.0 thanks

I have do not have an answer for your other questions, but yes I have purchased a disc off of ebay and yes it does have alot of good information. You do have to spend time with it to learn where the information is that you want. It has all the schematics and emission information plus more. I got one for my 05 6.0L.

the vss in my old dodge was situated on the rear diff, not sure if the fords have it there as well or not but that'd be the first place i'd look at for that sensor, usually just a few screws then you need to work it out of the diff and slide the new one in
