Well got my engine back from the machinist on the 21st but with xmas and all havent had time to finish assembly and install.=( One more dinner tonight then tomorrow i get to get on it.=) Still need rockers and pushrods but have nearly everything else. The block i took in cracked in the lifter valley area while it was being baked. Date code was nearly 2 months after supposed safe date of Mar77 @ MCC plants. Machinist got me another block baked and squared up cleaned up line honed and wow looks like brand new. Bored 30 over using Tim's 9.3:1 stepped dish pistons. My machinist liked how they fit. crank is 10/10 and rotating assembly balanced. Using comp 265deh cam. Thats what i got back from the machine shop assembled. Also my stock heads werecleaned up and completely redone using SS valves and the matching springs for the cam. Machinist used his own valve seals which look like nicer quality than most others. on top of that is going to be an edelbrock intake, black 1" 4 hole spacer and edelbrock 1406 carb. The other end will have 1 5/8 fenderwell exit headers all in a 79 f150 SB 4X4.
T-18 3:50 and 33's for now but have 4:10's to go in with 35's.
Any opinions on what i should run for mufflers and size of exaust? It'll come out ahead of the rear wheel.
Also any ideas on what kind of power i might be getting?
Sweeeeeet!!! thx for that Danlee....
#'s look nice to me
what size exaust would you run? i'm thinking freeflow mufflers of some sort right after the fenderwell exit header or close to it with 2 1/4 pipes exiting in front of the rear wheels. i'm more interested in performance than sound. wondering if 2 1/2 would be gettin to big taking into account the length of the whole system.
Well its in now and complete. Fired right up as soon as it got fuel. Just had a minor fuel leak so after fixing that proceeded with the cam break in. Changed the oil and only been for a 30 min drive so far but it's f'n cool. Still need to rejet the carb but so far so good.
