Hey yall while me and my dad were up at the hunt camp we were riding on a real bumpy road in his 04 F150 fx4 and when we tried to roll the window up it wouldn't, it sounds like the motors trying but its not going up, any ideas about whats wrong? Could it just have been knocked off the track or something?
The window regulator is broken. Common problem, if the truck is still under warranty have ford fix it. If not their are many threads on this site that give information on where to buy the regulator and tips on changing them. Just before mine let go there was a grinding noise when the window was raised or lowered. That is generally accepted as the last warning. Even if you stop using the window at that point, the cable will eventually snap sending the window down into the door.
hm thanks, his window still stays up though, when ridin around it may slide down but it doesn't just fall down, still sounds like what your talkin about though! Thanks!
Its def. sounding like the regulator... You may be able to run a search for that. I think there are a few of the 150 guys that have changed out their regulator for a fraction of the cost of the dealer rate. Hopefully they can chime in...
my driver side window just started doing that, can hear motor but doesnt go up, play with the switch enough and up it goes, i will be looking into the regulator as well, i never had it fall or slip down though.
