timing

I have a 1984 f-150 300 inline 6 and i need to know how to adjust timing. Is there any vacuum or electrical wires or anything i need to plug or remove for correct timing. What would be the correct and the best tining for this engine. Thanks

timing

There should be a small plastic plug that can be removed from its connector (called a spout). Also could be a connector that pulls apart. This puts computer in base timing when removed. It is usually located along the wiring harness near the dist. Wire colors are yellow I think. Timing is 10 degrees BTDC.

timing

I think in 1984 the 300 still used a carb instead of Efi . Depending on the engine calibration some of the 300's timed at 12 Btdc . If the underhood emissions sticker is still in place check it for the timing procedure . Calibration 5-78-R01 timed @10 Btdc ; Calibration 9-77J-R12 , 9-78J-R00 , 9-78J-R11 timed @12 Btdc

How many degrees of advance should there be at idle.

i did the timing and it still dosent fill right it sounds even worser i have it at 10 degrees btdc. Exactly what the sticker on my truck says im stuck.

timing

There is a 1 wire lead next to the distributer you have to disconnect. It's black. That is the only other thing you have to do. Then the timing should be 10 Degrees BTDC. I'm running mine about 8 btdc
