LOL Chris, I saw the chicken just over the roofline and swore that's what it was, until I scrolled down a bit farther.
What'd I get, an 8gig iPod Touch, a new PSP to replace the one I lost when my house was broken into, some books, some new Family Guy DVDs (again, replacements, I got robbed) some money and a couple gift cards. Figure I'll turn them into a PS3 in a week or two so that I don't have to drop a ton of money at once when Gran Turismo 5 comes out.
I got a HD DVD Player my brother, Some clothes and a photo printer from the folks, and some nice flannel bed sheets and some cooking stuff from the wife...Got some money and gift cards too, gotta go get some steel toed shoes for work..rather spend it on the truck though
For Christmas, my truck got new chrome headlight doors or whatever you call those things that surround the headlight/turn signal/corner light assembly. the ones i picked up at the yard for $4 had some imperfections so no i have fresh new ones.
Bought a buddy of mine a Katana like that a few years back. Called it the Dorm Room Defense System.
I think he ended up cutting the hell out of his curtains with it. lol.
I had a cheap POS Katana a few years ago, When a buddy of mine sold his house, he let me & our friends go in a demo it for him. I was hacking at a 6x6 for about a 1/2 hr when the blade finally broke, in total it took about 4 hrs to destroy that sword. But it was a cheap House of Knives piece of crap. I think I only paid $50 for that one. This sword my brother got me, is probably a $300 sword.

Sounds about right. Key words are "re-enactment ready" or "combat ready." Swords and other melee weapons with these designations are used for demonstrations and actual combat. A katana, tanto or nodaichi was never meant to be parried with or to overpower as say, a typical english longsword or stab with like a Roman shortsword (Gladius). Katana are slashing weapons, and can be used to deflect a blow, causing it to glance off, but not to stop one dead.
The Highlander films were a great example of what not to do with a blade like this. Big giant claymore hits thin bladed katana = broken katana. Similarly, beating around a katana in home demolition would produce similar stresses lol.
It looks nice. For the best in longevity, avoid stamped blades in favor of forged ones, and avoid most mixes of stainless steel, as they are brittle. 440 stainless comes to mind.
