Dash lights out but tail lights work

I have done searches for this topic but I'm running out of items to check.
I checked the fuse. I get power to the headlight switch. the ground seems to be ok. unless there is a differnt ground spot than the one in the front of the dash.
as far as I can tell the harness is ok I have the dash appart and it looks ok.

allmost forgot this is my 01 Ex with the 7.3

are all the lights out including the radio? if this is out check the dimmer wheel on the light control

the radio works but is a after market and has its own circuit. I'm planning on replacing the dimmer/light swithch after I get back from vacation. hopefully it will be just that.
