I’m looking at putting in head studs on my 2004 F350 and later maybe injectors and turbo. My concern is the boost of an after market turbo, some of these turbo’s I’ve seen can get up to 40 psi of boost. Can a stock head gasket w/studs hold up to this kind of boost or should I look at getting a set of the wire ring gaskets?

So far I have installed a set of gauges, 4” exhaust, 05 intake elbow, green filter and spearco intercooler.

SCT tuner will come after the head studs. I’ve been holding off on the tuner hoping that someone as come up with a way to turn off the “check engine light” after I removed the throttle body.
Theres people running 50-60 psi with studs and stock gaskets all the time. If your not already a memeber, check out FTEs diesel forums.com. They talk more on there about big performance mods.
Head studs and a good gasket (esp a MLS type) will hold plenty of boost...done in race apps all the time. Just make sure the studs themselves are in tight enough into the block so they don't loosen over time...common issue is that some people put them in hand-tight only, and then the stud itself loosens over time...even if the nut is cranked to 80+ Ft/Lbs. Best of luck w/it!
What is the max boost stock bolts and gaskets will take before the bolts stretch and the gaskets blow? Does it only take one high boost and all is lost or do they stretch from repeated overboost?

I wouldnt push over 27-28lbs with the stock bolts. The can blow after one abnormally high boost, but usually from repeated episodes.
