Smile Impressive Build Quality

I was changing the oil the other day and took a look underneath. This truck is built really stout. I could not believe the width of the frame, the thickness of the swaybars, and the number and size of the cross members. I have a 2007 Screw 5.4 4x4 KR with 10000 miles and have had no squeeks, rattles, or noises of any kind. If you have not crawled underneath your truck you may want to take a look.

I agree 100%. Thats why I've always been a Ford man, and always will be. I have a 2004 Screw, and love it. For being such a big truck, and bulky, you can feel just how heavy-duty its made. Amazingly, they ride like Cadillacs, anyone who rides in my truck simply cannot believe it. I know some guys who work in body shops, and they tell me they can ALWAYS tell a Ford truck frame from any other...because they are big, heavy, and "tubed". He said he would trust that kind of a frame in any wreck compared to Chevy or imports.

If you want to do an experiement, go and take a buddy's, or a new one on a lot....Nissan or any other import truck....open and slam the door...and watch the whole side of the truck SHAKE!! Its funny as hell to see how cheaply made the imports are...including the interiors. Everything is thin, and plastic. You'll also feel the doors of the Dodge's and Chevys, and imports are much thinner and lighter when you open/close them....then go try this on your truck....and you'll see why Ford is #1!!!!

If you really want to feel a truck that rides well ask someone with an HD
Scab to give you a ride. I thought that my 150 inch wheelbase Screw rode well but that extra foot of wheelbase on my HD makes it quite a lot better. It's already impressed quite a few people.

Of course the price we pay for that build quality is in weight and therefore fuel. I for one think it is well worth it. For the weight of these trucks the fuel economy is actually quite good.

The problem I have is that I feel exactly the same way about my ford. Sure the frame may be heavier, but everything else on the truck is made cheaply. Cheap hard plastic interiors and dash door panels. When I shut the door on the truck, the door outside door panel shakes forever. Cheap thin steel is used on all the outside panels. And the cheap chromed plastic used on the outside trim along with the even cheaper black, (now turning grey) trim makes me shake my head every time I look at the truck. ford really needs to step up the quality if they are going to stay in the game let alone be competitive.

So far I am very happy with mine. I put ceramic front pads on at about 800 miles or so and was amazed at the size of the front end compononts including the calipers and rotors. Made my Cheby brakes look like tinker toys by comparison. Truck rides great, and I love the torque of the 5.4. Kinda nice to be able to tow a moderate size trailer in O.D. and have it stay in gear for a change.

I am right with you on this one Ford9c....I guess I am not overly impressed by the quality of my 04 FX4. Previous to this truck I had a 97 F-150 4x4 Offroad pkg with a 4.6L, drove that truck 216000 miles with no major issues, compared to that truck the 04 seems cheapened up some. For example, lean up against the side of the box while pumping gas the whole side pushes in, my 97 never did that. Every once and a while the tranny seems to slip, something in the cab creeks over every bump and the engine is loud when it idles (way to sensative to oils and filter types). Seems like everything on this truck is thinner and cheaper.

That being said, don't get me wrong I still love the truck, just pointing out obvious things. I have been a die hard Ford fan since I started driving, but i can't stop thinking about that new Tundra!

The only difference in the trucks is the density of the blinders used.

[btw, my Super Duty door "wiggles" quite a bit after closing it.]

I did notice of cheap and thin the body panels are, I don't mind that the interior is all plastic since most cars interiors are plastic now days.
