EFI Idle problems

86 EFI 302, stick shift, sometimes when I'm slowing down to a traffic light it will shut off. Also, the idle speed is not even, especially after it warms up. It's tuned up and everything, new distributor and module but had same problem before, I'm thinking it's either the IAC or the TPS, but I know there are some other sensors in there too. Any idea which it probably is, or how to test these sensors? Thanks!

My truck did the same thing and I had already replaced the IAC so some people on here told me to clean out the throttle body and it helped tremendously. To clean it you need to take out your TB and clean it with carb cleaner to get all the carbon off of it, and then wire brush around the intake and carb clean it a little bit to. It helped mine out alot and I couldnt believe how much carbon had built up in there. Another thing that made mine idle smoother is setting the idle by taking off the IAC and getting it where the truck will idle on its own, but very slowly. ( do this by adjusting the idle screw while its disconnected). Then plug the IAC back in and drive it for a few miles. If those two things dont help I would get the codes read before you did much more.
Hope this helps

For whats its worth, cleaning out the system worked on my '85 302 EFI. I was having trouble stalling when coming off throttle. The engine started and idle fine, but when I lift the throttle, it always died. Thoroughly cleaning everything seemed to do the trick for me too.
