I have an 06' 6.0 powerstroke. I am considering putting on a 4" straight exhaust. Can anyone tell me some pro's and con's of doing this? I have the stock air intake and no programmer as of yet. Will it void my factory warranty? I have been told it won't but I'm not sure.
I have read on this forum that a turbo-back exhaust can creat warranty issues. I asked my dealer and his response was that it will only void the warranty on your exhaust, but if you're replacing the entire exhaust system, it doesn't really matter anyhow. They (my dealer) also doesn't care about removing the cat.
So the answer to your question is that I think it depends on the dealer.
Most dealer's won't have an issue with it. Find a good reputable dealer in your area and talk to them about it. Make sure you speak with a service manager their diesel tech. It shouldn't void anything other than the exhaust system, but some dealers have been known to enjoy plaing the role of Satan and blackmarking the entire warranty for something as simple as an exhaust mod.
As far as pros: lower EGTs which will help increase engine effeciency and life. Sounds awesome. Makes the ricer's jealous of your massive 6" exhaust tip. Cons: Can be too loud for some people. If you go with a cat delete you may have to replace it to get inspected every year.
