My name is Dave, From outside Phila. (Newtown Sq.)I have a
"98" windstar
"88" f-250 custom (plow truck) 460
"96" f-450 super duty (12 ft. stake body dump) 460
"05" f-350 Pick up (powerstroke) plow truck
Had some MEGA problems with my "88" but thing it might be OK now.
I got on this site to find some answers, saw 4 other guy's having the
same problems, and after spending a ton of cash thought I would
let someone find out what the problem was and pray they would tell
the rest of us.
my problem is with my 88 ford pick up, the truck starts fine, runs for about one hour
then it just - bup- bup - bup -runs out of gas, if you start hitting the gas, it will stall
idle, stall idle, stall idle, stall idle, rrrrrrrruuuuuummmm, then recover for ten or fifteen
then the same, untill the onetime it just dies. then it starts right back up, a couple of times untill it won't start again. then after it cools down it will start again. I have seen where others on here were having the same problem. I replaced Both the fuel pumps,
filter, relay, cat converter, ignintion switch,MAP,TPS, O2 sesor,by-passed some of the in-line fues.I've put some dry gas in it, fuel injector cleaner couple of times, yet my results are the same. I have't done the brain(yet) but could it be the chip in the brain. Nothig is lighting up on the dash for me to put it on the diagnostic mashine, I've ask the man at auto zone he told me, no lights I can't do anything.
I thought I had it fixed but now it is back to the same thing. Maybe someone has the solution. I'm sure this had to be a common problem back in the day. Any suggestions would be helpful. Now I'm going to try the charchol canister. what do you think?
anyone?
