OK...I want to replace the rear leaves on my B2 (1990). What options do I have? Can I use Ranger and/ or Explorer leaves? Which aftermarket company would you suggest? I don't really want to go the junkyard route simply because you can't really tell how long the parts have been in the weather or if the springs will keep their arch once you take them home and mount them...its a hit or miss thing. Please tell me your opinions...you guys/gals out there are the experts....I am still learning!
Gotta agree with tbolt460. I understand the concern with junk yard parts but take a look at the odometer of the donor vehicle and the year model. If there isn't a butt load of miles on the vehicle, chances are the springs will be fine. The springs I swapped in mine came from a wrecked '99 explorer that only had 37k miles on it. They ride a bit stiffer but they keep the rear fenders off my tires. Besides the price tag is much more agreeable. I gave $50 for mine.
Superlift makes a long Add A Leaf. Number 2180 I think. It will give you about 2" of lift and will ride well and flex well also. A lot easier that replacing the whole spring pack. Short aal's are lower in cost but ride stiffer and don't flex as well. I ran the long one in my 89.
If I could figure out how to post pics I'd show you I have no problem with flex, no body roll issues and if I want to undo the sway bars the articulation ain't bad either but seriously hooked or unhooked it will and has held its own at Paragon Park.
Oh Yeah, this is my daily driver.
