Help! I was getting ready to install my new drop beams on my 95. I had trouble getting the second nut loose after removing the lower spring mount and spring. I have been soaking the bolts with tri flow for the past month so it would be easy to break them loose when I had time to put all the new stuff on under my truck. Being this isn't the first old I beam truck I have had to take apart I knew I could just go to ford and buy new bolts that hold the radius arm , I beam and coil spring mount and coil together. Well I was wrong! For discountinued making that bolt and they dont't have any. I find this out the hard way after I cut the old ones off. The bolt is 3/4'' by 9 1/2'' long. Any suggestions on where to locate these bolts? I live in the rust belt and all the junkyards told me that the bolts on there trucks are probly junk then to and dont want to waste there time on it. I have talked to a fastener company in my town and they are checking around to thier supliers to see what they can come up with, but they will probaly have to have them made. They have 2 - 10'' long bolts grade 8 but the threads are not cut down far enough on the bolt. I need at least 4'' of threads on a 9.5'' long bolt.
Mcmastercarr.com has one but it's grade 5. 3/4-10 full threads 9 1/2" long. Part # 92865A874. Can you take the one you found and run a die down it to make the threads longer?
Thanks for your input but I was talking to my machinest at work and he said he could cut more threads for me in the 10'' bolts I got. I turns out not to be a big deal as I thought it would be. thank you
