I just bought a 2003 Excursion, great shape but the 4 wheel drive didn't work. When i turn the 4x4 swtich absolutely nothing happens(4high or 4low). So today i tried to check everything. I first hooked up a scanner(borrowed from a buddy) and it couldn't find the GEM(how does everything else work if the GEM is blown) I then checked all the fuses and they were good. I hooked up some jumper lines to the transfer case motor and it worked fine. I got the transfer case to engage in each gear, but the dash light never came on. I tested the connections on the transfer case, no voltage. I then pulled the dash and checked the switch, and also no voltage. With no voltage at either end, do you think its a relay, if so where are they and how do you check them or is it the GEM? Thanks in advance!
