I've been gone while I've waited for my '68 F250 Highboy to return from AutoWorld in Montana. But it came back two days ago and I've uploaded pictures into my gallery.
This is a 2005 HPCR Cummins from a wrecked Suburban and a 48RE and Dodge transfer case. The engine was very long requiring the firewall to be cut and a dog house installed which can been seen in the shots inside the cab - Heater/defroster is gone.
I'm still sorting out the details before I stomp on it. It has an ATS controller that needs to be programmed and a steering issue that we're trying to figure out and the new front springs that were fine for a 390 are completely overwhelmed and the fuel tank needs work as well...
Out of curiosity, how long have you had this sweeet pickup, and where did you get it? I swear I almost bought that pickup up here in Idaho. It looks exactly the same. The color, the motor, everything. (the 390 of course, not the cummins)
Yes, it came fro Idaho - from Gentry something in Ontario Oregon - but I believe the truck actually came from Idaho. Are you they guy that tried to buy it? We had a hell of a fight with the dealer - and of course it turned out they lied through their teeth about the condition of the truck.
The instrument panel is from Haneline - I think - works great.
Yeah, Gentry is a group of people I CAN'T stand, I've tried to deal with them when i was looking for a job and they gave me the run around for two weeks.....
Love the truck, always wanted to stuff either a Navistar or a Cummins in a '67-'72 3/4 ton whether it be a two or four wheel drive... Its even the right color.
There's a guy that works at the local Yamaha shop with a lifted '79 x-cab running a cummins and an NV4500/NP205 combo, sounds WICKED SICK!!!!
No, I actually saw it at a private party's house. I wanted to buy it for my first truck so bad...but I didnt have the $6800. If you dont mind me asking, what did you pick it up for? Are the axle housings painted the same as the body? I know that ws the truck I wanted. What was wrong with the 390? It looked puty darn nice. Very nice truck man.
The axel housings were not painted yellow and we ended up paying $4,500 for it.
When we had the engine in for a little rebuild, the machine shop said it looked like someone had rebuilt in their bath tub. There were scoring marks and tool marks all over.
i never knew suburbans had cummins in them.
was that some kind of aftermarket conversion or something?
nice truck BTW. i'm looking at doing a 73-79 diesel conversion. just need to get up the funds.
Opps, the Cummins came out of a Dodge pickup obviously. I have also recently gotten a 2005 5.3l vortec out a Surburban that's going in an '84 LandCruiser - but that's for a different forum.
