AE tips?

Guys, I just received my AE. Before I get too crazy with it, can anyone point me to some values I should expect to see. Tried 7point3.com but it is still down. Just trying to get some tips from those of you with experience using this software. Thanks.

I've got an AE question too, but don't want to post it until people start answering yours. Maybe the bump will help.

If you want me too I can send you any numbers from my AE that you want. This doesn't mean that they are what they Should be but as far as i know everytihng is running right.

This will give me a good exzcuse to get out and do some logging with the AE. Haven't done this near as much as I would like to.

Well, I've started down a dangerous road with this software. The questions will start flying from me now. First off, why do I have to put the activation code for the enhanced software in each time I open the program. Secondly, how do you save a session. I am wanting to save codes found and data I collect. Once I save a session and try to open it, the software wants to connect to the vehicle again. Any and all tips appreciated.

BTW, any help on code P0340.

Saving a session and saving data is two different things. Saving a session allows you to view the same sensor outputs as you did previously. To save the data from channels you have to hit the record button at the top of the screen. There shouldn't be a need to save codes because they will stay there intil you clear them.

If you want to save the Codes, use the print function, and print it on your desktop as a XML file. You can then display it offline, at any time.

Thanks for the tips. The numbers I have right now are ICP of 450-500 at idle and no more than 2400 at WOT. ICP DC 10-12 @ idle and up to 60 @ WOT. Need to check fuel filter right now. Power is down and lots of white smoke when cold. All cylinder tests show no problems and glow plugs and relay check good. Any Ideas.

ICP of 2400 at WOT is really, well, not good. Shows weak HPOP. Have you tried the ICP test? Go to Swamps site under FAQs and do the roll-on test and log that. I posted about this earlier. Click my avatar and read up on that post/thread.

You should not need to reenter the key every time with the same computer. Call AE about this if it persists. Matter of fact, from what I think I know, the new version allows you to use it in any computer as long as you have the key. Once installed, the same OBD reader can be hooked to however many computers as long as the same connector/tool is used.

jsmahan-Is power down all the time, or only when cold. Might be glow plugs. I know the AE tests them, but I am not sure how it figures they are good (or more correctly how the PCM figures they are good). It could do some fancy calculation to see the voltage drop, or it might just be looking for voltage on the output side of the GPR. None the less, the smoke and low power when cold sounds like glow plugs or GPR to me.

I had the same problem with the activation code with the previous version of the software, but with the most recent release, now that it is keyed to the ODBII connector and not the computer, I have had no problems. And Tenn, you are correct, I have it on two laptops and a desktop - so long as you have the registered connector, you are golden. This makes it handy for logging on the laptop, and then looking at what happened in front of the nice big desktop screen.

I will call AE after Christmas. This on makes me reenter the codes for the Ford enhanced program each time I open the AE software, even if the computer has not been turned off.

The low power is constant. The smoke is mostly when cold. I ohmed the GP's and all were around 1.2. The GP relay appears to be working correctly as well when checking volts. The truck starts fine, just some smoke.

Also, after warming it up, I was reving the engine while hooked to the AE and noticed when I would let out of it and then immediately get back into it, there was a lot of white smoke.

I have not done the IPR test yet. Will look into that one. Thanks.

Not IPR test... ICP test.

Just an update, changed the fuel filter and gained a lot of power back. This B20 is wearing the filters out.
